The WGC 100 Bowls Tournament has successfully been completed. From my point of view, it seemed to be a great success with the matches all played in a competitive and friendly spirit. Many congratulations to Welwyn & District who secured the championship with a victory over Hatfield on Tuesday by winning on all 3 rinks. I hoped you all enjoyed the tournament as much as we did at Welwyn Garden City.

I should very much like to thank both the WGC Centenary Organisation for their support and special thanks goes to both Eric Walsby & John Beech for their enthusiasm and encouragement. I should also very much like to thank all at HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors for their sponsorship of the event and support.

For next year, as I have indicated previously. I should like to expand the tournament to be a Welwyn Hatfield Borough competition which includes all the bowls clubs within the Borough. As such if you all agree I would like to invite both North Mymms & Northaw & Cuffley bowls clubs to join the tournament next year. I would be grateful if you could confirm by reply if your club is in agreement with this.

Finally, no tournament is complete without a presentation ceremony. Therefore Mike & Eddie can I ask that you liaise with Eric to arrange a presentation of the winner’s trophy to take place during the weekend of the 24th & 25th September (when I believe that you have your own club finals day).

Once again well done and thank you all for making the WGC 100 Bowls Tournament such a great success.
